Dionisio Aguado 8 April — 29 December was a Spanish classical guitarist and composer. InAguado visited Pariswhere he met and became friends with and for a while lived with Fernando Sor. Aguado's major work Escuela de Guitarra was a guitar tutor published in The more extended works require a virtuoso technique and left-hand stretches that are almost impossible on the longer string lengths of modern guitars.
Aguado returned home to Madrid in and died there aged Following his mother's death inAguado relocated to Paris, where he quickly established himself as a renowned performer and teacher. He published the French version of his "Methode complete pour la guitare" Complete Method for Guitar during this time. For over a decade after his arrival in Paris, Aguado collaborated closely with Fernando Sor.
They performed as a duo and Sor dedicated the duet "Two Friends," Op. Despite their friendship, they differed in their approach to guitar technique. Sor favored using the pads of his right-hand fingers, while Aguado advocated for using the fingernails, a pioneering idea that resulted in a brighter and more robust sound.
