M M Dandapani Desikar was born in Thiruchenkaatangudi a very famous dandapani desikar biography of williams because it was there that one of the sixty three Saiva saints, Nayanmars, Siruthonda Nayanar was born. Desikar made his debut at Tirumarugal, noted for its Saivite shrine and for its brilliant nagaswaram maestro Natesan. His intial teacher was his father Muthiah Desikar, from whom he learnt, Thevaram, Thiruvachakam, and Thirupugazh.
Desikar was a student of the carnatic music doyen, Kumbakonam Rajamanickam pillai for some time. This book also includes his compositions which reveal his command over music and the language. He published quite a few Thamizh music works under the auspices of Thamizh isai Sangam. He gave many concerts in Chenbnai and other places in Tamilnadu including at Annamalai University.
His was a small family himself, his wife and his daughter. Even the daughter passed away shortly after his coming down to Mysore. One reader misattributed the other article in chennaionline where it said he was the son of Muttaiah Bhagavatar to me and asked me to clarify. I was aware of the other article. I think the other author also knew it was Muttaiah Desikar but the moment one writes Muttaiah, Bhagavatar automatically follows, it seems, since MB's reputation eclipses everything in its path.

Later they decided to use the expression as a 'title' for singers note the use of it for MK Thyagaraja Bhagavatar who was at times confused with St Thyagaraja Again some folks have 'pseudonyms' which are delightfully confusing.

Desigar acted in Tamil pictures, wrote The Hindu. His singing roles were the outstanding feature of these films. The last, made by S. Such was his love for Tamil that he did not think it unusual to sing songs in that language in T iruvaiyaru during the Tyagaraja aradhana of The conservative element, however, did not like it and after he finished, organised for a purification rite at the Samadhi!
Inhe became head of the Depa rtment of Music, Annamalai University, and there were felicitations in connection with this. On June 11, there was another report, this time of a function at the Dasaprakash Hotel, which had veteran violinist Parur Sundaram Iyer and Kivalur Meenakshisundaram Pillai speaking in praise of Desigar. After a successful tenure of 15 years at the Annamalai University, Desigar left rather suddenly in and returned to Madras for a life of domestic bliss with his beloved Devasena.
